Regular Season Round 16: Sao Paulo - Paulistano 76-71
Date: September 22, 2021
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Sao Paulo (#1) and Paulistano (#7). Despite it looked like an easy game for Sao Paulo, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Guest Paulistano challenged much higher ranked Sao Paulo giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by five points 76-71. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 9 rebounds. The former international forward Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international guard Danilo Fuzaro (193-94) replied with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Lucas Doria (203-97, college: St.Edward's) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Paulistano. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Paulistano's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sao Paulo maintains first position with 10-2 record. Paulistano lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with seven games lost. Sao Paulo's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Vivo/Franca.
