Everything could happen in Mexicali at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Soles and 4th placed Panteras had identical 4-5 record. This time Soles used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Aguascalientes 69-67 on Friday night. It was a key game for the second position in the league. It was a great evening for American Joe Lawson (201-92, college: Indianapolis, agency: Inception Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. International guard Luke Martinez (190-90, college: Wyoming) helped adding 13 points. Lawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Soles players scored in double figures. Soles' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Panamanian Ernesto Oglivie (203-89) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Gary Ricks (185-91, college: Drake) scored 15 points. Soles (5-5) moved-up to second place, which they share with Plateros. Panteras lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Soles will meet at home Libertadores (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Panteras will play against the league's second-placed Astros in Guadalajara and hope to secure a win.
