Regular Season Round 7: Astros - Abejas 99-85

There was a minor upset in Guadalajara where leader Abejas (6-4) were defeated by third ranked Astros (6-4) 99-85 on Sunday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Astros shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Abejas' players. It was a great evening for Nigerian-American power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Avry Holmes (185-94, college: Clemson) helped adding 18 points and 4 assists. At the losing side American guard Spencer Williams (188-95, college: Wooster) responded with 26 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward Ryan Pearson (198-90, college: GMU, agency: Inception Sports) scored 19 points. Four Astros and five Abejas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Astros keep a position of league leader, which they share with Libertadores and Abejas. Astros will meet at home Panteras (#5) in the next round. Abejas will play against Dorados (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
