Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Pinheiros and Corinthians. Corinthians was smashed at home by 50 points 53-103 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Pinheiros forced 25 Corinthians turnovers and outrebounded them 42-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Corinthians' players. Gui Abreu (199-99) scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international center Dikembe Andre (206-99) chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Five Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Lucas Soares (-3) responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Guinea-Bissau forward Yan Djalo (202-1) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pinheiros' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Franca.
