A very close game took place in Xalapa between Halcones UV Xalapa and Plateros. Fifth ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (4-6) got a very close home victory over one of their biggest challengers Plateros (5-7). Halcones UV Xalapa managed to escape with a 2-point win 113-111 on Friday evening. Halcones UV Xalapa dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Plateros' 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. The winners were led by American power forward Ishmael Lane (203-97, college: NSU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field) and American-Filipino guard Mikh McKinney (184-92, college: Sacramento St.) supported him with 24 points and 5 assists. Even 27 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: UNC) did not help to save the game for Plateros. The former international point guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (183-86, college: WKU) added 23 points and 9 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Halcones UV Xalapa have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Plateros lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Panteras. Halcones UV Xalapa will meet higher ranked Soles (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Plateros will play against the league's leader Fuerza Regia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
