Regular Season Round 8: Astros - Panteras 89-77

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Panteras (5-7) lost to first ranked Astros (7-5) in Guadalajara 77-89 on Saturday. Astros looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American forward Jordan Loveridge (198-93, college: Utah) who scored that evening 25 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Javion Blake (190, college: Washburn, agency: Haylett Sports) supported him with 20 points and 9 assists. Even 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by Spanish guard Txemi Urtasun (192-84) did not help to save the game for Panteras. Panamanian Ernesto Oglivie (203-89) added 15 points and 4 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Astros maintains first position with 7-5 record, which they share with Abejas and Soles. Panteras lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with Plateros. Astros will meet Libertadores (#4) in the next round. Panteras will play against the league's leader Abejas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
