The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Soles as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Soles smashed 5th ranked Halcones UV Xalapa in Mexicali 89-60. They outrebounded Halcones UV Xalapa 47-32 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Soles players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Halcones UV Xalapa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. International guard Luke Martinez (190-90, college: Wyoming) nailed 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and international center Daniel Amigo (208-95, college: Denver) accounted for 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American swingman Omar Boone (196, college: Sul Ross St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and naturalized American swingman P.J. Reyes (196-88, college: Charleston) added 12 points respectively for Halcones UV Xalapa in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Soles (9-5) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Halcones UV Xalapa at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Halcones UV Xalapa will play next round against league's leader Fuerza Regia trying to get back on the winning streak. Soles will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Astros at Guadalajara.
