Regular Season Round 8: Amatitlan - Halcones 64-78

Very significant was Halcones' (#1, 4-0) victory against one of their biggest challengers Amatitlan (3-2) 78-64. They outrebounded Amatitlan 47-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by point guard David Monterroso (180-79) who scored that evening 21 points and 8 rebounds and the former international swingman Billy Saavedra (190-90) supported him with 15 points and 4 assists. Five Halcones players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 7 rebounds by Dereck Morgan did not help to save the game for Amatitlan. Forward Luis Perez (191-97) added 9 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Amatitlan's coach rotated twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Halcones have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 4-0 record. Amatitlan at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Villa Nueva. Halcones will play against Monjitas (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Amatitlan will play against Forza (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
