Bottom-ranked Toros (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 65-56 loss to fifth ranked Panteras (6-4) in David on Monday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Toros' 24. Panteras forced 21 Toros turnovers. Dominican forward Cristian Joan Duran (201-96, college: Tenn Tech) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Luis Dinolis (185-93, college: Broward CC) chipped in 18 points. Panteras' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Colombian center John Hernandez (207-84) responded with 9 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Oscar Zephyrine (190-0) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Panteras maintains fifth place with 6-4 record. Toros lost their twelfth game in a row. They still close the standings with 12 games lost. Panteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena Dragones.
