Rather predictable result in Monterrey where first ranked Fuerza Regia (10-5) edged 5th ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (4-10) 99-96 on Wednesday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Fuerza Regia looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Nigerian-American power forward OD Anosike (203-91, college: Siena) had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Rodney Green (197-88, college: La Salle) chipped in 24 points during the contest. At the losing side American-Filipino guard Mikh McKinney (184-92, college: Sacramento St.) responded with 19 points and 5 assists and American power forward Ishmael Lane (203-97, college: NSU) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Five Fuerza Regia and four Halcones UV Xalapa players scored in double figures. Halcones UV Xalapa's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Fuerza Regia have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 10-5 record. Halcones UV Xalapa lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with ten games lost. Fuerza Regia will meet Astros (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Halcones UV Xalapa will play against the league's second-placed Dorados and hope to secure a win.
