A very close game took place in Sao Paulo between Cerrado and Sao Paulo. Cerrado got a very close victory on the road over Sao Paulo. Cerrado managed to escape with a 2-point win 78-76 on Tuesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Cerrado outrebounded Sao Paulo 41-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. Power forward Ruan Miranda (205-1) stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners and Argentinian point guard Stefano Pierotti (185-98) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Four Cerrado players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) responded with 25 points and 4 assists and American power forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Cerrado will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sao Paulo will play against Brasilia and hope to win that game.
