Regular Season Round 6: Independ.O. - Salta Basket 91-72

Rather predictable result in Olivia where top-ranked Independ.O. (5-0) smashed one of their biggest challengers Salta Basket (2-2) 91-72 on Thursday. Independ.O. dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Salta Basket's 18. They outrebounded Salta Basket 43-27 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Fernando Martina (200-81) who scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Salvador Giletto (195-93) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Independ.O. players scored in double figures. Independ.O.'s coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Federico De Miguel (176-97) who recorded 27 points (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) and Cuban forward Yasmany Fundora (201-92) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Independ.O. have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Independ.O. maintains first position with 5-0 record, which they share with Dep Viedma. Loser Salta Basket dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Independ.O. will meet league's second-placed Estudiantes T. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Salta Basket will play against the league's leader Barrio Parque and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
