Regular Season Round 7: Rancagua - UNAB Santiago 26-78
Date: October 28, 2021
No shocking result in a game when third ranked UNAB Santiago (4-2) crushed on the road bottom-ranked Rancagua (0-6) 78-26 on Thursday. UNAB Santiago held Rancagua to an opponent 18.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.3 percent accuracy of the winners. UNAB Santiago forced 40 Rancagua turnovers and outrebounded them 57-35 including a 28-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Karla Vargas (-0) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Vanessa Medina (168-99, college: High School) accounted for 12 points and 4 steals for the winning side. Four UNAB Santiago players scored in double figures. Ailyn Roldan (-0) came up with 7 points and point guard Paloma Reyes (-96) added 6 points respectively for Rancagua in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. UNAB Santiago moved-up to second place, which they share with Sergio Ceppi and Univ.de Chile. Loser Rancagua still closes the standings with six games lost. UNAB Santiago will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rancagua will play against the league's leader Sportiva Ita. (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
