Regular Season Round 2: Olimpia - Defensor 87-63

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Defensor's road loss to Olimpia 63-87 on Friday. The former international point guard Brian Garcia (182-90) scored 23 points to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Charlie Marquardt (191-95, college: Molloy, agency: Green Sports Management) chipped in 21 points during the contest. Marquardt is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Olimpia players scored in double figures. Olimpia's coach Gerardo Jauri felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Argentinian Leonardo Lema (204-98) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds and Argentinian center Ignacio Alessio (203-87) scored 14 points. Olimpia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena .
