Regular Season Round 6: Piratas - Corsarios 80-79

Piratas' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after six consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Corsarios (1-6) 80-79 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Corsarios 48-34 including 19 on the offensive glass. American forward James Harrison (203-96, college: ETSU) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international guard Yildon Mendoza (206-96, college: Angelo St.) supported him with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Even 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) by American guard Anton Gill (191-94, college: Nebraska, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Corsarios. His fellow American import forward William Green (201-91, college: Stetson) added 17 points and 10 rebounds. Piratas maintains ninth position with 1-6 record, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Corsarios. It was Corsarios' sixth loss in a row. Piratas will meet Bucaros (#9) in the next round. Corsarios will play against Cafeteros and hope to win that game.
