Regular Season Round 7: Paulistano - Minas 67-96

The game in Sao Paulo supposed to be also quite interesting. Leader Minas (6-0) played at the court of 5th ranked Paulistano (3-2). Minas smashed Paulistano 96-67 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Paulistano. They outrebounded Paulistano 40-25 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international guard Gui Pereira (192-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. American guard Shaquille Johnson (194-90, college: Marshall, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Minas players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international guard Danilo Fuzaro (193-94) responded with 16 points and swingman Anderson Barbosa (192-0) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Minas have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Sesi Franca. Loser Paulistano keeps the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with Cerrado and Sao Paulo. Minas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Paulistano will play against Rio Claro (#11) and hope to secure a win.
