There was a small surprise in La Rioja where ninth ranked Instituto (3-1) smashed 6th ranked Riachuelo LR (3-2) 134-90 on Tuesday. Instituto forced 27 Riachuelo LR turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Point guard Lautaro Urquiza (177-1) fired 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winners. Juan Frontera chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Instituto players scored in double figures. Forward Lucas Gallardo (199-1) produced 23 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and point guard Yoel Cuenca added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Riachuelo LR's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Instituto have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with San Martin and Argentino. Loser Riachuelo LR dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Instituto will meet Olimpico (#17) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Riachuelo LR will have a break next round.
