Regular Season Round 6: Penarol - La Union 90-66

Very expected game when 16th ranked La Union (2-3) was smashed by tenth ranked Penarol (3-3) in Mar del Plata 90-66 on Friday. Penarol made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Penarol had a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Tevin Glass (206-94, college: ETSU, agency: BIG) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the effort and the other American import forward Al Thornton (203-83, college: FSU, agency: BIG) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) by American forward Zac Cuthbertson (201-96, college: Coastal) did not help to save the game for La Union. Point guard Fermin Thygesen (186-98) added 12 points and 5 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Penarol maintains tenth position with 3-3 record, which they share with Olimpico. Loser La Union dropped to the twelfth place with three games lost. They share the position with Regatas. Penarol will meet at home higher ranked Ferro (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. La Union will play against Obera (#8) and hope to secure a win.
