Bottom-ranked Capitol (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-73 loss to tenth ranked Penarol (2-3) in Montevideo on Friday evening. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for John Flowers (200-89, college: WVU) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 7 rebounds. Center Lee Roberts (203-87, college: Findlay, OH) helped adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. Penarol's coach Pablo Lopez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side guard Davaunta Thomas (196-95, college: UAFS) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and center Paul Harrison (204-89, college: NGU) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Capitol players scored in double figures. Penarol moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Malvin and O.Mundial. Capitol lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Defensor.
