Rather expected game when 3rd ranked Supersonicos (2-3) lost to top-ranked Guaiqueries (5-0) in Margarita 57-63 on Saturday. Guaiqueries forced 20 Supersonicos turnovers. International Edgar Martinez (199-97) notched 14 points to lead the effort and swingman Luis Duarte (190-94) supported him with 17 points and 4 steals. Even a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds by the former international forward Tulio Cobos (197-86, college: Northeastern St.) did not help to save the game for Supersonicos. Forward Jose Manaure (193-87) added 12 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Guaiqueries have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-0 record. Loser Supersonicos keep the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Broncos. Guaiqueries will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Supersonicos will play against Broncos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
