There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Cerrado (3-4) lost to ninth ranked Mogi (4-4) in Brasilia 74-86 on Sunday. Center Thiago Mathias (208-89, college: N.Mexico JC) nailed 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Wesley Ferreira (200-95) accounted for 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American guard Isaac Thornton (193-91, college: Fairmont St.) came up with 16 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import point guard Kenny Dawkins (172-87, college: Lamar) added 11 points and 5 assists respectively for Cerrado in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mogi moved-up to sixth place. Cerrado lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with Pinheiros and Paulistano. Mogi will meet at home UNIFACISA (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cerrado will play against Paulistano (#10) in Sao Paulo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
