Regular Season Round 8: Llaneros - Diablos 71-84

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Caracas: Diablos (#4) and Llaneros (#6). Llaneros were defeated at home 71-84 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Diablos players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Luis Guerra (-98) orchestrated the victory by scoring 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Kelvin Caraballo (198-88) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Francisco Marquez (190-93) replied with 23 points and center Carlos Rodriguez (206-89) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Llaneros. Four Llaneros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Diablos maintains fourth position with 4-6 record. Llaneros at the other side dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. Diablos will play against higher ranked Trotamundos (#3) in La Asuncion in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Llaneros' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Cocodrilos.
