An exciting game was played in Gualaceo. Second ranked Manabi faced 4th ranked Triple E-Uda. Guests from Portviejo (4-2) defeated host Triple E-Uda (1-5) 81-74. Manabi forced 22 Triple E-Uda turnovers. It was a good game for forward Mairon Cuero (190-89) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-94, college: Lander) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Gabriel is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Rodrigo Gonzalez (-98) replied with 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Milton Romo (-90) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Triple E-Uda. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Manabi maintains second position with 4-2 record having just two points less than leader Santa Maria. Triple E-Uda at the other side stay at the bottom place with five games lost. They share the position with Guerreros. Manabi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Triple E-Uda will play again on the road against the league's second-placed Manabi (#2) in Portviejo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
