A very close game took place in Comodoro Rivadavia between Gimnasia and Union SF. Eighth ranked Gimnasia (5-2) got a very close home victory over 18th ranked Union SF (2-6). Gimnasia managed to escape with a 2-point win 60-58 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Gimnasia outrebounded Union SF 48-32 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cuban forward Yoanki Mencia (196-97) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international Sebastian Vega (200-88) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Gaston Bertona (176-1) produced 11 points and Haitian forward Jeantal Cylla (201-96, college: Arkansas, agency: Interperformances) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Union SF's coach Juan Francisco Ponce tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gimnasia moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Union SF lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighteenth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
