An interesting game for Santa Maria (7-0) which played road game in Santo Domingo against 3rd placed Guerreros (1-6). Leader Santa Maria had an easy win 97-56. Santa Maria dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Guerreros' 38. Santa Maria forced 25 Guerreros turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan Darwin Sanz (-90) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds. The former international point guard Martin Martinez (182-95) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Santa Maria players scored in double figures. Neudy Reyes (-86) answered with 9 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Jose Obando (-99) added 8 points in the effort for Guerreros. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santa Maria have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Guerreros lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third position with six games lost. They share it with Triple E-Uda. Santa Maria are looking forward to face league's second-placed Manabi in Portviejo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guerreros will play on the road against Triple E-Uda in Gualaceo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
