We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Chivilcoy where leader Zarate Basket (13-3) was defeated by second ranked Racing (11-5) 94-87 on Friday. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Racing made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. Racing outrebounded Zarate Basket 37-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Zarate Basket's players. It was a great evening for Joaquin Gamazo (198-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field). Point guard Adriano Maretto (189-99, agency: BIG) helped adding 21 points. Racing's coach Diego Dambrosio allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Agustin Brocal (191-97) responded with 16 points (made all of his seven free throws) and swingman Damian Pineda (194-88) scored 15 points (made all of his seven free throws). Five Racing and four Zarate Basket players scored in double figures. Racing maintains second place with 11-5 record having just two point less than leader Independ.O. Newly promoted Zarate Basket still keeps top position with three games lost. They share it with Dep Viedma.
