There was no surprise in Formosa where 13th ranked La Union (2-4) was defeated by eighth ranked Obera (5-5) 97-86 on Friday. Obera made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 61.5 percentage. American guard Melvin Johnson (193-93, college: VCU) fired 28 points and 4 assists for the winners. Facundo Giorgi (203-85, college: FIU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Zac Cuthbertson (201-96, college: Coastal) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and center Fernando Podesta (205-92) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Obera maintains eighth place with 5-5 record. Loser La Union keeps the thirteenth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Obera will meet at home higher ranked Instituto (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
