Regular Season Round 11: Corinthians - Cerrado 79-89

Everything could happen in Sao Paulo at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Cerrado and 12th ranked Corinthians had identical 3-5 record. But Corinthians was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Brasilia 89-79 on Friday night. Cerrado made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Daniel Von Haydin (194-99) who led the winners and scored 22 points. American guard Isaac Thornton (193-91, college: Fairmont St.) accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Malcolm Miller (201-91, college: Southern) came up with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American-Peruvian guard Kyle Fuller (184-92, college: Vanderbilt) added 17 points respectively for Corinthians in the defeat. Four Corinthians players scored in double figures. Corinthians' coach Leo Alves let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cerrado (4-5) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Paulistano. Loser Corinthians dropped to the thirteenth position with six games lost. Cerrado will meet at home higher ranked Minas (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Corinthians will have a break next round.
