Regular Season Round 8: Patriotas - Yaracuyanas 60-63

Important game to mention about took place in Barinas. Fourth ranked Yaracuyanas (4-8) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Patriotas (6-6) 63-60 on Friday evening. Yaracuyanas forced 34 Patriotas turnovers. Strangely Patriotas outrebounded Yaracuyanas 49-37 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by Edglimar Montero (176-3) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and international point guard Guadalupe Diaz (163-99) supported her with 14 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. Even a double-double of 12 points and 20 rebounds by the former international forward Cynthia Polanco (180-85) did not help to save the game for Patriotas. The former international Yolimar Martinez (-95) added 12 points and 14 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Yaracuyanas maintains fourth position with 4-8 record. Newly promoted Patriotas keep the third place with six games lost.
