The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Caxias do Sul's (5-6) road victory over 11th ranked Pinheiros (3-6) 79-75. Caxias do Sul made 18-of-18 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Strangely Pinheiros outrebounded Caxias do Sul 39-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by the former international guard Humberto Silva (196-95) who scored that evening 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and Eddy Carvalho (197-87) supported him with 23 points. Even a double-double of 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists by forward Jonas Buffat (191-0) did not help to save the game for Pinheiros. International center Dikembe Andre (206-99) added 10 points and 13 rebounds. Four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Caxias do Sul moved-up to seventh place. Pinheiros lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. They share it with Corinthians. Caxias do Sul will play against higher ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pinheiros will play against U.Corinthians (#17) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
