Regular Season Round 9: Comunicaciones - Instituto 83-82

The game between third ranked Instituto (6-3) and seventeenth ranked Comunicaciones (3-6) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Instituto was edged by Comunicaciones in a tough game in Mercedes 82-83. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Instituto. Comunicaciones looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for American power forward Brandon Peterson (203-90, college: Arkansas St.) who saved his team from a defeat with 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Alejandro Diez (201-87) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Nicolas Romano (200-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and international Martin Cuello (193-93) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Instituto. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Instituto's coach Lucas Victoriano rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Comunicaciones moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Union SF. Instituto at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Comunicaciones is looking forward to face league's second-placed Ferro in Buenos Aires in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Instituto will play on the road against Union SF (#17) in Santa Fe and is hoping to win this game.
