Regular Season Round 11: La Union - Penarol 70-71

A very close game took place in Formosa between Penarol and La Union. Thirteenth ranked Penarol (5-5) got a very close victory on the road over 19th ranked La Union (2-9). Penarol managed to escape with a 1-point win 71-70 on Monday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Penarol made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Bruno Sansimoni (194-96) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Italian swingman Federico Marin (199-82) helped adding 19 points. American forward Zac Cuthbertson (201-96, college: Coastal) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and forward Patricio Tabarez (195-91) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. La Union's coach Eduardo Japez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Penarol moved-up to tenth place. La Union lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. Penarol will meet higher ranked San Martin (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. La Union will play against H.Americano (#16) and hope to secure a win.
