Regular Season Round 9: Regatas - Gimnasia 91-89

Seventeenth-ranked Gimnasia CR (2-9) was very close to win a game against eighth ranked Regatas (7-4) in Corrientes. Regatas managed to secure only two-point victory 91-89. However their fans expected much easier game. Regatas outrebounded Gimnasia CR 43-32 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. Point guard Tobias Franchela (185-1) stepped up and scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners and guard Juan Scacchi (186) chipped in 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 8 blocks. Regatas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was center Leandro Fogel (201-0) with 24 points and Uruguayan point guard Nicolas Lucchini (188-3) scored 19 points and 5 assists. Four Gimnasia CR players scored in double figures. Regatas maintains eighth place with 7-4 record. Gimnasia CR lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with nine games lost. Regatas will play against H.Americano (#18) in Rio Gallegos in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gimnasia CR will play on the road against San Martin in Corrientes and hopes to get back on the winning track.
