There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Penarol (6-5) won against higher ranked San Martin (7-3) in Corrientes 86-72 on Friday. Penarol made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by naturalized American power forward Phillip Lockett (202-88) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Tevin Glass (206-94, college: ETSU, agency: BIG) supported him with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Five Penarol players scored in double figures. Even 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by international Matias Solanas (192-98) did not help to save the game for San Martin. The former international forward Fabian Ramirez (200-90) added 14 points and 5 rebounds. San Martin's coach Diego Vadell rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Penarol have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place. Loser San Martin keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with San Lorenzo. Penarol will meet at home Comunicaciones (#15) in the next round where they are favorite. San Martin will play against the league's second-placed Gimnasia (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
