Very expected game in Belo Horizonte where 7th ranked Fortaleza (5-6) was crushed by third ranked Minas (10-2) 101-74 on Sunday. Minas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Gui Pereira (192-91) who scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. International point guard Alexey Borges (185-95) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American Desmond Holloway (194-90, college: Coastal, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Dominican guard Nehemias Morillo (197-92, college: S.Florida, agency: BMS Sport Agency) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Minas. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Flamengo. Loser Fortaleza dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Minas will meet at home UNIFACISA (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Fortaleza will play against the league's second-placed Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro and hope to secure a win.
