Seventh-ranked UNIFACISA (5-6) made lots of trouble for third ranked Minas (11-2) in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday. Minas managed to secure only three-point victory 71-68. However their fans expected much easier game. 25 personal fouls committed by UNIFACISA helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International point guard Alexey Borges (185-95) fired 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-94, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Miller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Naturalized American guard Kevin Crescenzi (193-93, college: Dartmouth) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Antonio Ferreira (200-94) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Minas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Flamengo. UNIFACISA at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
