Regular Season Round 18: Sao Paulo - Minas 91-87

The most important game in the last round took place in Sao Paulo between third ranked Minas (11-3) and fifth ranked Sao Paulo (10-3) on Tuesday night. Minas was defeated by Sao Paulo in a tough game on the road 87-91. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Minas. Strangely Minas outrebounded Sao Paulo 37-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Minas' players. The former international forward Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Bruno Caboclo (206-95) chipped in 26 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Shaquille Johnson (191-90, college: Marshall) with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Alexey Borges (185-95) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Sao Paulo have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Bauru. Minas at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Sao Paulo's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Vivo/Franca.
