There was no surprise in Belo Horizonte where 5th ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (10-5) was defeated by third ranked Minas (12-3) 76-64 on Sunday. Minas outrebounded Paschoalotto/Bauru 41-29 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Shaquille Johnson (191-90, college: Marshall) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-94, college: Texas A&M) helped adding 12 points and 17 rebounds. Miller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Minas players scored in double figures. At the losing side international guard Alex Garcia (190-80, agency: Interperformances) responded with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Argentinian guard Enzo Ruiz (194-88) scored 22 points. Minas maintains third place with 12-3 record having five points less than leader Sesi Franca. Loser Paschoalotto/Bauru keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Minas will meet at home Pinheiros (#7) in the next round. Paschoalotto/Bauru will play against the league's second-placed Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro and hope to secure a win.
