There was no surprise in Montevideo where 14th ranked Capitol (1-11) was defeated by seventh ranked Hebraica (7-5) 105-100 on Tuesday. Hebraica dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Capitol's 36 and made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Hebraica looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for American center Gerard DeVaughn (205-88, college: Stillman) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Gaston Semiglia (186-91) helped adding 24 points and 6 assists. DeVaughn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Hebraica's coach German Fernandez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Marvin Phillips (201-83, college: Claflin) with 23 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Italian point guard Marcos Marotta (180-89) scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Hebraica have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Malvin. Capitol lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Hebraica will meet at home higher ranked Urupan (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Capitol's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Urunday.
