Regular Season Round 18: Instituto - Regatas 90-103

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when tenth ranked Regatas (9-7) beat 9th ranked Instituto (8-7) in Cordoba 103-90 on Friday. Regatas shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 54.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international point guard Nicolas Aguirre (189-88) notched 26 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and guard Juan Arengo (185-96) supported him with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 20 points and 5 assists by international Martin Cuello (193-93) did not help to save the game for Instituto. Point guard Gaston Whelan (187-94) added 14 points and 7 assists. Four Regatas and five Instituto players scored in double figures. Regatas moved-up to ninth place. Loser Instituto dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Regatas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Instituto will play against La Union (#17) in Formosa and hope to secure a win.
