An interesting game for Penarol (12-5) which played road game in Comodoro Rivadavia against one of their biggest challengers Gimnasia (10-6). Second ranked Penarol managed to get a 13-point victory 100-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gimnasia. Penarol made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. Naturalized American power forward Phillip Lockett (202-88) notched 25 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Al Thornton (203-83, college: FSU, agency: BIG) supported him with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Even 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by the former international Sebastian Vega (200-88) did not help to save the game for Gimnasia. The former international center Roberto Acuna (208-90) added 20 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Penarol and five Gimnasia players scored in double figures. Penarol have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-5 record having just two point less than leader Quimsa. Loser Gimnasia dropped to the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Ferro. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
