The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Quimsa as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Quimsa defeated 3rd ranked Ferro in Santiado del Estero 97-91. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ferro. Quimsa dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Ferro's 38 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Quimsa made 7 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Ferro helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. The former international Mauro Cosolito (195-88) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Quimsa's coach Sebastian Gonzalez used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Jonatan Torresi (190-94) replied with 25 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Rodrigo Gallegos (186-91) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Ferro. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Quimsa have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Ferro at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Gimnasia. Ferro will play next round against Olimpico trying to get back on the winning streak. Quimsa will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Obras in Buenos Aires.
