Regular Season Round 5: Las Animas - Valdivia 66-63

Very expected game when 10th ranked Deportivo Valdivia (1-3) was edged on the road by fourth ranked Las Animas (2-1) 66-63 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. American center Travion Leonard (205-93, college: Barry, agency: Interperformances) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and Argentinian forward Gabriel Hermosillas (202-93) accounted for 14 points and 9 rebounds. Argentinian Nahuel Martinez (188-95) came up with 15 points and 9 rebounds and the former international Gerardo Isla (201-91, college: Columbia, MO) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Deportivo Valdivia in the defeat. Despite that victory Las Animas went down to sixth position due to points difference. Loser Deportivo Valdivia dropped to the eleventh place with three games lost. Las Animas will meet at home higher ranked Puerto Montt (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Deportivo Valdivia will play against Puerto Varas (#4) and hope to win that game.
