No shocking result in a game when third ranked Gimnasia (13-6) beat 15th ranked Platense (6-11) in Florida 80-74 on Sunday. Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-97, agency: Pro Sports) nailed 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and the former international Sebastian Vega (200-88) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Gimnasia players scored in double figures. Dominican point guard Adris De Leon (180-84, college: EWU) came up with 22 points and 6 rebounds and American Jordan Williams (198-92, college: N.Texas) added 14 points respectively for Platense in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gimnasia. They maintain third place with 13-6 record having just one point less than leader Quimsa. Loser Platense dropped to the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Gimnasia will meet Ferro (#5) in the next round. Platense will play against Obras (#6) in Buenos Aires and hope to secure a win.
