There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Regatas (10-8) defeated higher ranked San Martin (10-8) in Corrientes 95-88 on Monday. Regatas made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Regatas outrebounded San Martin 37-24 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. The former international point guard Nicolas Aguirre (189-88) nailed 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and American guard Skyler Hogan (196-97, college: SEMO, agency: Pro Sports) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Jonatan Machuca (184-89) came up with 27 points and 5 assists and the former international Matias Solanas (192-98) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for San Martin in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Regatas moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated San Martin. Regatas will meet at home Atenas (#18) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. San Martin will have a break next round.
