Regular Season Round 18: Hebraica - Penarol 70-96
Date: January 24, 2022
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Penarol (#6) and Hebraica (#8). Hebraica was smashed at home by 26 points 70-96 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The best player for the winners was American center Lee Roberts (203-87, college: Findlay, OH) who scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import John Flowers (200-89, college: WVU) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Mexican Durrell Summers (196-89, college: Michigan St.) who recorded 29 points and American center Gerard DeVaughn (205-88, college: Stillman) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Penarol have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Hebraica at the other side keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. Penarol's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Olimpia.
