There was a surprise result in Sao Paulo where twelfth ranked Corinthians (7-14) defeated higher ranked Paulistano (9-11) 81-71 on Tuesday. It was a great shooting night for Corinthians especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was forward Alexandre Paranhos (204-92) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Lucas Siewert (208-97, college: Colorado) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Danilo Fuzaro (193-94) who recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and point guard Felipe Ruivo (188-98) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Paulistano's coach Demetrius Ferraciu tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Corinthians moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Paulistano keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Pinheiros. Corinthians will meet bottom-ranked Brasilia (#17) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Paulistano will have a break next round.
