Regular Season Round 38: Ameghino - San Isidro 96-89

The most important game in the last round took place in Villa Maria between third ranked San Isidro (9-2) and seventh ranked Ameghino (7-5) on Thursday night. San Isidro was defeated by Ameghino in a tough game on the road 89-96. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of San Isidro. Ameghino dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to San Isidro's 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by San Isidro's players. 24 personal fouls committed by San Isidro helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (200-88) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Point guard Tomas Allende (190-2) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Ameghino players scored in double figures. Forward Emilio Stucky (198-94) replied with 22 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Juan Cruz Oberto (200-97) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for San Isidro. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ameghino have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. San Isidro at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Estudiantes O.. Ameghino will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San Isidro will play at home against Independiente and is hoping to win this game.
