Date: February 6, 2022
There was no surprise in San Francisco where 9th ranked Independiente (5-7) was defeated by third ranked San Isidro (10-2) 79-73 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. San Isidro forced 20 Independiente turnovers. Strangely Independiente outrebounded San Isidro 37-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Santiago Assum (194-98) who scored 31 points (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Power forward Juan Cruz Oberto (200-97) chipped in 19 points. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Jeremias Sandrini (185-93, agency: BIG) who recorded 12 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and swingman Daniel Tabbia (195-93) added 17 points respectively. Four Independiente players scored in double figures. Independiente's coach Fabian Daverio rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. San Isidro keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Estudiantes O. Loser Independiente keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Del Progreso and Salta Basket. San Isidro will meet at home league's second-placed CAO Ceres in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
