Regular Season Round 25: Pato Basquete - Minas 70-101

There was no surprise in Pato Branco where 9th ranked Pato (8-12) was crushed by third ranked Minas (17-3) 101-70 on Sunday. Minas shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. The former international guard Gui Pereira (192-91) stepped up and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international power forward Renan Lenz (207-90, college: Utah) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Four Minas players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Matheusinho Brito (184-0) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and guard Gemadinha Sacco (183-97) scored 12 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Minas have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain third place with 17-3 record having just two points less than leader Sesi Franca. Loser Pato dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. Minas will meet at home Corinthians (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pato will play against the league's leader Vivo/Franca in Sao Paulo and hope to secure a win.
